One of my all-time favorite meals is a good hamburger. There are many ways to prepare hamburgers. You can use a variety of cheeses. You can add bacon (you can never go wrong with bacon). If you like your hamburger a little spicy, you can add jalapenos or a habanero sauce to it. Or, if you are in the mood for a classic favorite, you can make a good old mushroom and Swiss burger.

Mushroom and Swiss burgers have been a favorite of mine since my childhood. There is just something good about adding those tangy flavored mushrooms and Swiss cheese to a juicy burger that keeps me coming back for more.

I like to begin by adding onion soup mix to the ground beef. The onion flavor really brings out the beef flavor in the hamburger. It is also worth the extra effort the make your own onion soup mix to flavor the meat. You can find the recipe I use by clicking on the link here.

For the mushroom mixture, I like to use sliced white mushrooms. Sauté them along with a diced onion. Add a little salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Then sprinkle in a healthy amount of Worcestershire sauce over the mushroom and onion mixture. Leave on the heat until the mushrooms and the onions have soften.

When you are ready to build the burger, place a healthy amount of mushroom mixture over the burger and melt the Swiss cheese on top. Add your favorite condiments and enjoy. (I like mayo and a little hot sauce with mine).
