One of my top favorite breakfast meals of all-time is biscuits and gravy. When I first started making biscuits and gravy I used store bought frozen biscuits. While I prefer frozen biscuits to canned biscuits, they still pale in comparison to making your own biscuits from scratch. If you have ever made biscuits from a box mix, then making them from scratch is not too far of a leap forward. Making biscuits from scratch is actually pretty easy and the taste is worth the extra effort.

You can top your biscuits with a gravy mix or even canned gravy. However, making sausage gravy from scratch is easy and the taste difference is well worth it. You can check out the sausage gravy recipe here.

This recipe uses only six ingredients. Most of these you likely have in your kitchen already. You will need all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, a stick of butter, and a little milk (buttermilk can also be used).

One piece of equipment that I highly recommend is a good pastry blender. This recipe calls for cold butter that has been cut into slices. You will need a good pastry blender to mix the cold butter into the flour. If you do not already have one, buying a good quality one will make your cooking experience a lot more productive and enjoyable.
